This photo is of students participating in their Physical Education class. They are running on the track to try and beat each others time. This photo was taken because these students were participating in an activity called Fitness Friday and they have to show the teacher that they can run a lap in a fast time. These are the people who got a head start on everyone.

We stopped at the alpaca farm on a long road trip across 2 States. I wanted to "play a part" and learn more about these fuzzy animals. They ate out of my hand and it tickled.

My friend competes on our ski team in a race against our best competition locally and a tough team to beat. I am on the team and this is from our participation in the race.

The photo was taken in a studio and it gives a deep meaning in the picture because it shows a girl leaving the dark side of her life. She has found God in this image. This relates to the theme because many people participated to help me get a good image.
Honorable Mention
This photo relates to the theme 'Participate" because the players are participating in a challenging football game. This was one of my brother's games, and my mom forced me to come along and take pictures of the game for her.

All my life I have passed by this particular park called Wilderness Park. About a month ago, I finally decided to stop being inactive and go out and discover this park. I always remember seeing the rabbits right when you get onto the freeway in the bushes where they liked to hide and the silhouettes of the ducks and geese from a distance. It always looked like a dream to just spend the day there and get in touch with nature. With my sister have been in the hospital for eight months prior to this visit, I felt like just getting some fresh air for the day. This is when I decided I was going to feed the birds and do my part to participate in helping these birds find food. Upon my arrival I searched up healthy foods that these birds like to eat. I went out and bought some food and the rest was history. I spent all day feeding these lovely creatures that most people just bat an eye at and got to really know them. I feel like I did my part by participating in this little adventure by making the birds happy, and now I get to carry on my story with people. Some day when my sister gets better I plan on bringing her here so that she can experience the same greatness that I saw that day. It only takes one person to get up and participate in something they truly love to make the world a better place.

This photo was taken in Tutwiler, Mississippi on a mission trip to frame a house for a family less fortunate than us. This trip was very eye opening and something that I will remember for the rest of my life. This picture and trip relate to the theme because participate means to get involved, help others. The whole point of this trip was to help others and everyone should get out and keep an eye out for other people, not everyone needs to go build a house, but everyone should be a good person and look out for others because then this world will be a better place.
Honorable Mention
The photo was taken during a field trip to a museum. The students in the photo were working together as a team to complete a task. This relates to the theme "Participate" because to participate is to work as a unit to accomplish a larger task.

This photo was taken at St. Anthony’s Sand Dunes in Idaho on June 14, 2018. Our group was out riding in the dunes when we came upon another group with a sand buggy stuck in the sand. They were unable to get their buggy on top of the sand on their own. A few guys from their group had gone back to their camp to get help. Our group stopped, got out of sand buggies and off quads, and problem solved with their group to get the sand buggy on top of the sand again. It took digging the sand around the tires and lifting the sand buggy multiple times to free it. Originally, I took this photo to remember a funny moment on our summer vacation. However, as I watched our group problem solve with their group, I realized this photo truly represents participation. We can choose to ride on past others that are stuck or having other problems, but that is not the way of people in the sand dunes. Though you ride with your own group, you participate with everyone else riding in the dunes. Whether it is keeping one another safe or helping one another out, participation with strangers defines what it means to ride in the sand dunes.

My friend is doing a handstand split to make the day brighter. The sun is shining and the grass is green. For me, that makes a perfect picture.

The photo was taken at a ping pong table that anyone can use outside of a store. Being adventurous and doing different activities with friends is a great way for people to get out. With phones and social media people can be secluded from the world and often spend less time talking and more time texting. Interaction is a very important part of life and a great way to do that is by playing games. Whether they're card games, sports, or other competitions it creates a diverse and exciting environment. It encourages people to work together and communicate more. Playing real games together allows people to participate more fully in life than they can playing pool or other games on their phones.

Chinese New Years Street Fair, San Francisco.

I like exploring street photography. I was wandering around the streets of Chinatown trying to find the perfect photo that shows emotion and what Chinese New Years is all about for the friends and families that return each year to their old neighborhood to celebrate together. When I saw these two girls giggling and blowing bubbles in the street, I knew this captured the feeling I wanted to show of participating in the neighborhood celebration.
