This photo was taken in my little brother's side of my bedroom. This is his 20 year old computer. It may be a little dusty and a bit slow, but after all these years it works. This computer is very resilient for not breaking after 2 whole decades of use. My little brother also shows resilience by not wanting to sell it!

The world can turn into a dark and lonely place. It can be hard to find a way out of that and hard to resist the urge to give up. The people who struggle to persevere - the people who drown in despair and who cannot breathe - sometimes just need a helping hand from someone else to let them realize there’s been a ladder up all along. After all, being resilient with the help of someone who loves you is always, always better than believing you have to be resilient alone.

Crows are truly one of the most resilient creatures on the planet. They use and create tools. Crows are one of the few birds known to recognize and distinguish human faces. They survive on our trash and work well in teams. And if all these talents were not enough, they fly! This image is a combination of three pictures of the same tree less than a mile from my house. Every night over a hundred crows nest in this one tree. About an hour before sunset, I caught them circling the sky in a pattern I could only describe as “A Hurricane of Crows”.

Put it this way. It’s just a wall with an add on where it can open. That’s the jobs of a door. It acts like a wall, but it’s interactable. Even though it’s weaker than just a regular wall, it’s the one that will stand with the walls it’s surrounded by.

I feel like a door can show resilience because it is shown as a strong object that can resist many things. It’s a good sign of protection in my opinion.

Remember that even when you're going through hard times, there's always a pathway to hope and pleasure. When I was taking photos of the rainbow it reminded me to stay positive and not give up. You can find peace in yourself.

This picture was taken at my school while I was waiting to be picked up. While I was waiting, I looked up and saw the sun shining through the clouds. It reminded me of this year’s theme, “Resilience.” To me, it symbolizes how in difficult times, we try to think positive to keep us going on a forward path.
Honorable Mention
I took a picture of a sunflower, and it relates to resilience because it is growing in an unsuitable habitat with dry soil and not enough sunlight. The photo was taken outside next to many bushes and trees.

The picture of a tree with extremely few leaves is the subject of my submission. The theme of resilience is portrayed by the few leaves that are still existent in the tree.
The Photo titled A Sign of Life, it represents a rule of thirds and a theme of simplicity as well. Instead of using an angle from which people see a tree, instead I used an angle from where the background is simple and highlights the subject more.

A soldier has one job and that is to protect their country, so they say. But the message behind this photo is to show that even the strongest person you know can be as weak as any of us. It doesn't matter what suit you wear, what job you have, or how much money you make, because at the end of the day, we are all human and have feelings.

Some hounds, even after hours upon hours of training, are not fit for tracking animals. But, no matter their current skill, they need to build experiences and learn from their previous mistakes. This dog, one of the many other hounds in its pack for tracking mountain lions, can be considered in its prime. However, after cornering one lion recently to be darted with a tranquilizer, the hound was nicked by the lion's paw and nearly lost its eye in the process. After this ordeal, the dog learned to keep a greater distance from the animal they're tracking and itself. Its resilience was the ability to grow from past experiences instead of being scared or repeating the same mistake.

This photo was taken during COVID-19. We show resilience even now when times are at their hardest. Even when our signs get knocked over and our banners get twisted, we are resilient and we keep supporting and fighting for what’s right.

The world is a beautiful place. That's what my family and I thought until Covid hit. It was like a volcanic explosion. My family and I were especially worried that Covid would hit us sooner or later, and sure enough it did. My brother and my sisters had caught the virus. Everyone hit rock bottom and sooner later I would get Covid. But after the horrific disaster, I did not give up and let the virus prevent my family and I from doing what we love.

Almost everyday we go to the park to enjoy every second we have left on this planet and cherish the moments we have together. And we know that not even a virus could stop us. After the virus we became more of a family than ever and It was like we were on top of the world. I think we should all think that way instead of letting a virus take the things we love away from us. And I know we could learn something from this virus. We can learn to be stronger and more motivated after the virus passes because as a family I knew we could get through anything, and it turns out the world is more beautiful than it ever was before.
