This image shows participation in a group activity and having fun with others. A couple hours before this photo none of us knew each other and were all strangers. Within just a couple hours we all got to know each other and help each other of problems. This goes to show how easy it is to make friends in such a large world.

This photo is capturing two students playing football on the football field. This photo relates to the theme because it's showing two students, head-to-head, trying to get the football to score. It's not just one person participating; they are both showing equal effort. When I captured the students in the air, I automatically knew that this was the one. It shows how competitive they both are and how determined they are to get the ball.

I captured the track and field athletes participating in workouts and practices together in preparation for upcoming events. This relates to this year’s contest theme, “Participation” in the sense that my school's very own athletes are participating in practice together and putting hard work. Student athletes have to put much effort into school and life to even be able to compete in sports such as track. Keeping up grades, being active in class, and keeping their minds as well as their bodies into the sport. Much more than just an image of students practicing, this image represents all it took for the students to be in that moment of focus and hard work.

Before an Indian wedding, women have henna applied to their hands, which is a form of religious "decoration" in the Indian culture. These are the hands of the bride, who is participating in the Indian tradition of having henna applied to her hands which is part of her religious outfit for the wedding ceremony.

In Taiwan, I participated in a class trip to the rural city of Hualien to experience the life as a farmer. I was amazed by the scenery that just couldn't be seen in the city. There were no buildings and not many cars. It was just acres and acres of farmland planted with wheat, and a small road that streached far across the land. You could also clearly see the mountains ahead. It was so peaceful and quiet compared to the bustling streets in the city. When I saw this unreal scenery, I quickly whipped out my camera and snapped a shot before my friends could block my view.
