This photo was taken when I was visiting Oregon with my family. Although the main part of my photo captures a massive 611 ft waterfall, innovation can be spotted hidden in the bridge. The bridge joins together people and nature. When I stood on the concrete bridge in awe, I admired the beauty of the waterfall looking up and down below without having to move. This experience was Simon Benson’s vision when he had the bridge built. He was a wealthy land developer that owned the land and eventually gifted it to Portland for a city park. I see the bridge in my photo as a symbolic figure of how people used innovation to coexist and appreciate nature.

As years pass by, the growth of a building continues to evolve and improve to fit people’s necessities. This is innovation. Each building lights up with the concept of a new idea that replaces the old with the new. The shape and design of a building represents the innovative idea that someone had to build it. The building itself and the things that are created inside of it display the brightness of the future to come from it.

My photo relates to innovation because a sunset always represents the end to once was a new day. It shows new beginnings as the moon slowly takes the place of the sun. A sunset is change. The sky changes and as the clouds move in front of the sun and paints a beautiful picture of the new day to come. This photo captures the end of a long day and gives hope for a new day.

This image was taken at a high school football game and demonstrates the world's advancement in photo technology. The glitch effect was captured through long exposure and contributes to how far technology has advanced. If long exposure on a camera wasn't possible, this image would have had to be edited through photoshop, but now that is not the case. Cameras have become so capable on their own.

The photo was taken at a public apartment/shopping mall complex. The fountain itself is in the center of it all, surrounded by a variety of stores and a large tower leading to parking and residential areas. I believe the statue of the man represents innovation, as it shows how even though we can trace back forms of art as far back as the Renaissance, we still continue to change the status quo, and the modern technology of the water-spouting fountain in relation to it reflects that.

How can we show innovation at school while helping each other? I decided to take a picture of school supplies inside a box because I basically wanted to show Innovation by giving out free supplies to kids who need it. Wouldn’t it be amazing! I think it would be a great idea if the school community would get together to donate any school supplies that they might not be needing and be used by less fortunate students. This can also be a sample of kindness that we students can learn from. We can see it as a giving box and or a trade in. I decided to purchase items and ask friends to donate things for the box. I placed it on the 3rd floor of my school with a sign that says “Free School Supplies or Donate Something” to show kindness and love. I thought it would be an amazing way to be innovative to help our fellow peers. The fact is that there are times that kids aren’t prepared for school and are always missing a pencil or a folder. So this has inspired me to do that as well.

This picture shows innovation of how the moon is shining down on us and that the moon can be cool that makes us express looking up seeing how this world can look really nice and that the moon can maybe keep us cool from a really hot day. The moon is also like a guiding light to us so we can see where we are going and can look good behind mountains or good settings.

I took this photo on a rainy at night. This was my original idea but still had many more. This idea never left, I had it in the back of my head. So, when my photos I was taking weren’t working, I tried this one. It was the one that worked for me. This has to do with this year’s theme “Innovations” because it shows that those bright ideas can make a difference.

When I look at this machine I take a drink
It’s better than getting it from the sink
You don't have to pour it from a pitcher
It’s filtered, which makes it richer
This product is very innovative
Hmm, this is also very creative
It’s very simple and helpful to me
If you agree please don’t choose me for places two or three

Before you read the description, look at the image for a few seconds. The first half of my image, the moon, was taken in my backyard around the time that the green comet was visible. The second part of the photo was taken from a mountain highway. Once you look at the gorgeous moon, if you block it out and look at the image from another angle (upside down), you can see the beauty of the city landscape and lights. I wanted to convey the idea that sometimes you need to look past the obvious and from a different point of view to find the true hidden meaning.
This relates to innovation because of the unique way I've presented my idea. At first, the photo looks like the moon over a lake, but once you stare at it for a couple seconds it seems off. The "water" might look like the sky and turning the image upside down reveals just that. The theme of looking deeper to find a different meaning is conveyed innovatively through this process.

This image relates to this year's contest theme because there has been lots of innovation in controller design from some of the first to the newest. My mom used to always play on the NES when she was a little kid and for Christmas last year she got one and helped me learn how to use it. This image could also represent the connection between me and my mom and the generational difference of gaming.

This photo was taken in Edinburgh Scotland, during sunset. It relates to innovation because the view shows the city's old and new buildings. I love this photo because you can see how Edinburgh made the city more modern and up to date without ruining the old vibe and the beautiful architecture.

My photo was taken in front of my house. My picture shows a very old orange tree with a truck parked next to it. With the tree in the front it shows the old times when people picked oranges for money. The tree grows and changes with time. The car also changes with time and these changes show how far mankind has gone with innovation in technology.

I came up with concept of using a light bulb, the modern way of illuminating light, and fire, the way to have light before electricity.
This picture was created using a F 1.8 50 mm lens, dark space and the light from the lighter. We placed the light bulb slightly back from the lighter so the light from the flame will illuminate the light bulb. When editing we wanted the picture to be dark but lights to be light. We kept the camera relatively close to the light and flame however the flame was closer to the camera than the light bulb was. We experimented with different lighting, angles and lens however we found the smaller lens, dark environment and low light gave us the best results.

I chose to take a picture of the Tesla Model S because I believe it shows the direction of what all cars will be like one day. The Tesla Model S is not only eco friendly by reducing gas emissions into the atmosphere, it is full of innovative features that are only found in Tesla cars. Tesla is not afraid to take risks and push the envelope. I believe Tesla is the most innovative company in the world.

I feel as though the photo ties to the theme innovation since it's about starting something new. The composition shows that by having an hourglass giving the emphasis of us as people starting a new beginning and taking advantage of our time. Giving our best and not wasting time because "The Time is now".
