I took these while visiting my grandparents. My grandpa was a photographer, so he was encouraging me to take more pictures, even just in his backyard. I wanted to be innovative by combining my pictures, so I experimented with the editing in a way I don't think was done before.

The photo was taken in a quiet, cold, and outdoor environment. My photo was related to innovation because it's a metaphor of how the world is just a blur day in and day out. When you have an innovative idea, the world makes more sense and seem clearer. Some things about my photo is that it is an idea that came to mind and it's different.

The photograph relates to innovation because the photo is of a line at one of my school's recently implemented "food carts". My school implemented these food carts because my cafeteria would normally have very long lines during lunch. In order to help reduce the number of people lining up for lunch at the cafeteria, they set up food carts around campus so that students had different places where they could get food.

This photo represents innovation because when you're goofing around with your friends, we are innovating games and creating new methods of fun. Some things to know when viewing this photo is that everything was planned, it was done with enjoyment, and editing in front of another thing using clones because it shows different viewpoints from the same people when having fun.

My friend and I wanted to take pictures of cars in motion, so we went out to the road and took pictures of cars driving past us. This photograph relates to the theme innovation because this recent car model is very new, modern, and advanced in comparison to the old fashioned version. This innovation has been very influential on today's society, and has been helpful to people more times than not.

This photo relates to this year’s theme because it shows how gaming controllers have advanced through the years. This photo shows a gaming controller from 1985 versus one from the late 2010s. I would like the judges to notice the games in the background, old ones, which also show innovation. These games are from around the same years as the controller on the left.

This photo was taken at one of the campgrounds in Death Valley, The relevance of the photo to this year's theme is through the movement and lighting from the girl, which evolved into an analog ghostly effect, this photographs represents how I had to change my approach, and way of thinking when it comes to photography, and lead me to becoming a more mature photographer.

The photo was captured in front of the Museum of Flying, just as the sun was setting. On the left side of the image, a replica of the Douglas DC-3 airliner is displayed, seemingly soaring directly over the intersection. One of the greatest innovations of the modern era comes from aircraft development, which has given everyone the unique ability to travel across the world, along with achieving new heights (no pun intended). Without the continued growth of airplanes, people would not have had the opportunity to interact with each other from all over, adding to the diversity of thoughts and ideas we see in current society. Innovation is defined not only by technological advancements, but also stems from the impact innovation leaves on people.
Ever since my dad took me to my first airshow, I've developed a fascination with all types of aircraft. Whether big or small, military or commercial, advanced or old-fashioned, I love the world of aviation because of its extraordinary aspects and stories. I find solace in going to this museum, reminded of the great memories I've made here.

“Innovations” was a prompt that I had tons of ideas for, but few ideas that actually worked for me. I asked for advice, I looked at the top search results on Google, and I looked up previous winners, and even then, nothing really stuck out. Dozens of mental crumpled up papers in a mental garbage bin. Then, I thought that if I don’t just look at the literal definition, but also look at what innovators had to do to become innovators I might find something just right. With this line of thinking, I got to an idea which I felt related to my life in a meaningful and powerful way.
When I was almost five years old, my father got in a horrible bicycle accident and was temporarily paralyzed from the waist down. It’s a miracle that he was ever able to walk again, and he has not let it go to waste. His life since then has been about working hard and finding ways to live a normal life in his condition. I thought that a picture of my father working on one of his many woodworking projects in his garage workspace represents the drive, grit, and perseverance that one needs to have to be an innovator. I placed him farther up in the frame in order to represent how I’ve seen him my entire life; tall, confident, and always looking out for me.

I believe this photograph shows innovation in many different ways. FIrst, the evolution of music, how it is recorded, distributed and shared has become so advanced in the last 10 years. Without this innovation, music would not be the same.
It also shows innovation in the way people record images and remember events like this. The first thing people do is take out their phone, post it on social media or share it with friends. I really like that this photo shows three different cell phones in the frame but they are all showing a slightly different moment in time from this night. There is also a photographer using a DSLR to take photographs of the same event.
The thing that truly amazes me about photography is how much innovation has been made in such a short amount of time. In the past 10 years cell phone cameras have evolved from taking barely 2 megapixel photographs to well over 30 megapixel photographs, which is better than most DSLR cameras that are on the market these days.

This is a photo of electric chargers that are helping the environment. The photo was taken outside at night in a parking lot. My photo relates to innovation because it is a new idea that helps the environment so there will be less pollution. I love this photo because it has so many good ideas that make the world better.

Taken amongst the beauty of Sintra, this tower is one of the national landmarks in Portugal. Over my summer trip, I travelled to Sintra and discovered this amazing tower that was in the ground. After traveling down multiple flights of stairs, I was amazed when I looked up and saw such wonder. This photo enraptures how stunning our world truly is and how we can take it for granted.
