We participate by helping and being involved. This is me helping someone, my mom. My mom works very hard to cook, and she needs time to rest. I try to make sure she gets that rest, so I normally take my brother to the trampoline which he needs his shoes on to go outside. Since my mother needs a break, and my brother is barely 5, I need to help my brother with his socks and shoes. I participate by helping my mom and my brother.

The photo was taken a mile into our hike. The couple is going on the trail of life. They are participating on what's next to come of their relationship.

I took this photo in my neighborhood when I was walking home from school. I saw a beautiful flower with a bee inside and decided I should take this picture. This photo goes with the theme "participate" because this bee is participating in protecting thenhive by collecting protein for the younger bees as well as spreading the seeds for the flowers unintentionally.
Honorable Mention
The cool, early spring breeze blowing across the field, across to the track.

The track, a place of peace for her, is where she discovered her team.

Eagerly, but no less exhausting, she jumps and jumps, hurdles and hurdles, her team beside her.

She must do her best to be chosen for the next race.

She looks left, a smile for her friend.

She looks right, a smile for her captain.

And as she looks forward, a smile for herself. This, she thought, this is paradise.

The photo was taken in my back yard in the afternoon. I was experimenting on how to take close ups with things I could not see from far away with my dad's phone because I don't have a camera. I chose to take a picture of flowers that I grew from seeds with my dad. What appeared to be a tiny red spider on my flowers was actually a spider mite. After some research, I found out the tiny red spiders on my flowers were called spider mites that are actually pests.

This ties into the theme "Participate" because these mites actually can help pollinate while they eat through the flowers. They don't know it but they help the flowers grow and carry pollen from other flowers. I was able to capture a tiny spider mite participating in pollination.
Honorable Mention
This is a picture of my little cousin that I took around Halloween when we took a trip to a pumpkin patch, and I saw the perfect photo opportunity. Little did I know I would be entering it in a photo competition. This photo ties to the theme of participation because he is at a pumpkin patch and is participating in getting pumpkins in order to participate in the holiday of Halloween.

My photo relates to the theme of participation because it is a picture of him at a pumpkin patch. He was participating with his family to gather pumpkins. When they take the pumpkin home, they will participate in the holiday of Halloween.

This is my second year participating in the photo contest and I am glad I was able to do so again.

A couple weeks ago, I went on a ten mile hike. I spotted these mushrooms out of the corner of my eye. It was growing on a moss wall next to the path I was on. Even though these mushrooms may look small and unimportant, they are key in participating in the environment. Without the mushrooms, the whole ecosystem would collapse. It reflects on real life, with people. Every person on this earth may seem small and have no effect on the planet, but every person has a role to play, a place to fill. If someone doesn't do their part, like if a teacher doesn't teach the class, then it will fall apart. Our world is like Christmas lights, if one light goes out, the whole set goes. If the mushrooms don't do their part, the moss wall could die.

The meaning behind this photograph is to Participate in Prayer. We are all human beings and we are guaranteed to die, yet some people aren't grateful for what they have. We all need to believe in something to make us joyful. Every morning we wake up and every day is a journey, an experience, or maybe our last day on earth. Every day we should be grateful that we are breathing and living another day. We are nothing in this world, our purpose and dream in the world is so little compared to the rest of universe which has no end.

The painters didn't know their photo was being taken so they are completely focused on their work.

Two of our friends recently moved to Colorado, and we had a big party for them before they left. We loved them so much so we had to go big on the party. I think that my friends are a big part of my life and future. So as long as you have good friends, you will most likely have a good future too. As you can see in my picture, my friends are participating in a group photo. We are all really happy and positive at all times. We are always smiling and having fun.
Honorable Mention
This photo was captured in a wheel throwing class. It relates to the theme 'participate' because the three girls in the photo are taking part in the class and participating in creating art.
Honorable Mention
I took a picture of my friend Tanuja by one of the Rose Parade floats because it is a good example of participation. She volunteers because she wants to be a part of the Rose Parade. Tanuja has been participating for 13 years. It takes a lot of people to make the Rose Parade happen. She worked her way up from working on the sidelines to the Rose Parade Committee.
