Twenty-twenty was not the year we were hoping it to be. We went from being somewhat kind to one another to having hate. We went from wanting to stay indoors and ignoring what we once had to long for - the days we can go outside and hug our family. We went from a long spring break to being quarantined for almost a year. Stores and schools were suddenly closed and the number of cases was doing nothing but increasing.

The public panicked more than they had ever. Halloween wasn’t Halloween, Thanksgiving wasn’t Thanksgiving, Christmas wasn’t Christmas, and the New year just didn’t seem as exciting as it used to be. We all lost motivation and the desire to do our everyday tasks.

3, 2, 1, Happy New Year! What seemed so far away has finally come - 2021, the year where so many people wished to be better. Stores started to open up and some people were being called back into work. Cases of the virus that has locked us up started to go down. Sadly the hatred in the world has still carried on.

Here we see a man that was captured looking out into the distance at a sunset with his eyes and stare full of hope. Hopeful that the world can become a loving place. Hopeful that each person in this world will accept people for who they are and see them for what they are which is a human being the same as you and me. Hopeful that we don’t judge people by their skin, gender, sexual orientation, sexuality, race, ethnicity, religion, and so much more. Hopeful that we learn to appreciate the little things we have. Hopeful that we live in the moment and create the best memories. Hopeful that we take care of our world because it’s the place we were given to take care of.

The man with the hopeful stare knows this day will come. All it takes is for one person to take that first step and the rest will follow the right path.
