This photo was taken at a hiking trail, high in the mountains, in the middle of nowhere. With my passion for running and photography, I capture my cousin who I lovingly adore. She became inspired through my running, so she has also come to love running. While we ran, we both wanted to invite others so we can begin a legacy! As I capture this photo we are both so involved with many activites and getting active. To show people running can be for anything and escape, stress relief, or just to run for fun. Running is one step to getting to participate in any event.

I took this photo of a small plant growing in my backyard because it showed participation. How it shows participation is that the plant grows and give us air to breathe and live. The plants are participating by giving us air. Then the plant dies and then we grow a new one just like a cycle of life.
Honorable Mention
Nature brings life through leaves, water and the sun.
They all participate to continue the life cycle.

"This photo was taken in an area where there had been a wildfire. The flowers coming through the ash represents life and color participating in the dead and black and gray ash. I have written a Haiku poem that demonstrates the theme for this year, ""PARTICIPATE"".

Fire! Flames, heat, smoke, death.
Black and gray. But wait... what's that?
Life out of ashes."
Honorable Mention
The sun is slipping away and the trees are dark.
The clouds stand out against the sunset.
The camera flash and the sun participate in creating the picture.

My family went to a ballon festival in the fall. It was just a large group of people gathered to picnic and enjoy lighting up their balloons all together. It was a beautiful night watching all og the hands helping each other launch balloons into the night. Hundreds of gallons rose up into the hot summer air slowly drifting off into the distance. To me this gathering and helping each other was my definition of sharing participation.

My friend Lily and I decided to have fun at a Chinese festival on a cold day in February. This photo is relevant in the theme of 'participate' because my friend and I are taking part in a Chinese festival. I would love to let them know that the sesame porridge was very good, and I would love to have them try it once!
Honorable Mention
I can participate in helping to clean up our environment by showing litter around school.

My dog loves participating in games and activities, so whenever we leave him alone or ignore him, he gets very sad and lonely. I took this photo in my house to demonstrate how sorrowful he appears to be when nobody plays with him.

This image was taken in a photo studio. This image relates to the theme because we often only see the outer layer of a person the part of them that is very bright, outgoing, and involved but we never get to see the dark side of a person the part of them that makes them human which is their emotions.

This capture appeals to me most for it represents my mother pursuing something she doesn’t usually do: hike. While my mother has scoliosis, it has affected her in ways such as not being able to walk around too much, making it hard for her to spend family time at places like parks. This was a time where my family was able to go to the park to admire the scenery, and also where she was able to sit and enjoy the view of the lake. I selected this photo specifically because of the colors and bright mood it expresses, which represents hope that one should never give up and should not let roadblocks take over easily. This image also represents how one can leave the shadows behind, (the shadows from the tree) and that one should always look ahead which is hope (the brightness of the image in front of my mother).
