When I took this photo, I was taking my dog, Penny, for her daily walk. This picture relates to the theme "Participation" because it's called a daily walk. Just because there is a little obstacle doesn't mean that you should quit. My family and I all have chores that we take a part in, so when I take Penny for a walk, I feel like I am taking part in something good. So without Participation, we wouldn't be as organized as family, friends, or pets.

This was taken during the Los Angeles Unified Teacher strike. We walked the line for students, families, librarians, counselors, nurses, and our futures. We were union strong.

In my photography class, we were assigned a project that had to do with shutter speed. Our teacher provided water balloons so we could get some cool photos of water midair in the area outside our classroom. Nobody in our class wanted to get wet, but the two girls in the picture decided to volunteer to be the models. They participated when nobody else was willing to get wet, and we got great pictures because of it. Even though they were soaked, they continued to pop balloons so we could do well on the assignment, and this is the result.

Everything seems so easy
Easy like running on the beach

This photo was taken at the We Can Survive concert in 2018, and one of the singers was Charlie Puth, my favorite. It relates to the topic of this contest because we are all participating in making memories and singing along to our favorite songs. Charlie Puth is my favorite singer so this photo shows my sister and I as we have fun and sing along to all his songs.

This photo shows an orange bush in front of my house after a battering downpour. Because of the unusually rainy season, including several instances of hail, some of our smaller bushes and shrubs have suffered in health, but this particular orange bush has thrived. I was struck by the overlapping positions of the leaves-- how they seemed to be working together to shield each other from damage and lessen the bruising effect of the downpour. It made me think of necessity of participation. Life is a journey that can be overwhelming if traveled alone. But when you participate with others, you can hold each other up and allow all of you to weather the storm.

This photo was taken when my small group leader’s wedding guests were dancing right after the sun went down.I put a filter on it so it brightens their hair and made sure everyone was having a good time.I think this shows participation because they are participating in dancing on the dance floor, celebrating her wedding day. I made sure most of them were smiling and having the best time.

My picture represents participation because my friend and I are using teamwork to link up and get the shot. I took this picture with my friend Blake. We went after school when the sun was going down. We got lucky because the water was cool colors and there was no wind, which created this clean look on the water.

This photo was taken in my backyard. After multiple days of rainfall, this one Wednesday evening seemed to be very sunny. I took this opportunity to enjoy nature, the fresh breeze. I brought out my painting supplies to originally paint a few butterflies. My dog is very playful, as she interrupted my painting session, she got a smudge of blue paint on her forehead and lay down on top of my ‘Hotel California’ vinyl case. It was picture perfect! The way my dog's fur blended so well with the vinyl cover, surrounded with so many blue shades. It was a moment I couldn’t pass on.

A land ashore is where things once lost were found.
Ashore is where all sets anew.
What is found was once lost.
Kids run and play,
generation to generation,
generating new generations.
What's lost eventually is found.
Honorable Mention
The photo was taken at my school while in my AP Environmental Science class. It demonstrates how you can still participate effectively outside of the classroom.
