This is my dog, Chloe. Resilience is the capacity to recover quickly from difficulties. Chloe reminds me of resilience because she is tough and has had to recover from a lot of trauma. A dog bit her over her left eye, and she is now blind in that eye. She had to go through a lot of doctor appointments with her eye and a long recovery process but she was always herself, happy and friendly. She has kept her great personality regardless of the hard stuff.

There are several plant sprouts growing out of a crack by the stairs that lead up to a classroom. Despite the constant foot traffic the plant manages to survive and continue to grow. Even as former plant life was destroyed to make way for education and learning, the true strength of a plant will break through the barriers to show itself.

There stands a tall and mighty lemon tree, where I let my imagination roam.

Although I’m alone,
I’ll continue to grow.
This little catastrophe
won't get the best of me.
I’m strong and I know it.
I’ll show you my grit.
Knock me over,
I’ll only get better,
Adjusting my sails
to prevent another fail.
Adapting is what makes me
the best I can be.

The oak tree in my photo shows resilience because it is thriving in a place where every day you're being hit by frisbees from the people playing disc golf, or in very hot weather. Even though it goes through all of this, it is still, by far, the most beautiful tree at the campground.

The photo was taken near a building by my home which had lots of cracks and is an overall dry area. This photograph relates to this year’s contest theme because the flower in my image is coming out of some cracks and cement on the ground. Even despite its dry climate and unfortunate circumstances for life. It is still intact and growing.
Honorable Mention
As these flowers on my kitchen table wilt, the strongest keep struggling to survive and face the window. All living things in our world strive and fight to survive, proving how not just people but things like plants will resist in the face of adversity. Even though these flowers are nearing their end, they will continue to struggle and toil against death. This is resilience; to stay strong when things look bleak because you may soon face the sun again.

"Some of us have danced together since kindergarten. We are very close. We have been dancing together for years,” said Lillian. Growing up together in a small town means special relationships. After two years of Covid and no performances, the girls are waiting to go on for the Christmas 2021 show. Sissy’s hands are wrapped around someone’s ankle for comfort. Together there is resilience.

In my photo, the model is pushing the big truck trying over and over again. At some point she hopes it might move. If she tries super hard she possibly can. This is like a tough patch in life, when things get hard you should keep trying and trying until it moves because you are capable.

Resilience is being able to adapt, overcome and move past difficulties. This photo shows the resilience of Native American culture for the past 500 years being preserved and passed down to the next generation. Native American culture gives foundation and structure to move forward into the future.
Honorable Mention
My Boy Scout troop went on a camping trip, and one of the days we saw a huge mountain that we decided to climb. This photo represents resilience because there were no trails leading up the mountain. We saw our goal to climb the mountain and made it happen. It took a few hours and a lot of effort but the success of making it up the mountain was worth it.

I feel that this photo shows Resilience because of the trauma that's behind it. When I was a young girl, I had bad experiences from having thoughts of suicide, bullying, having to worry if my family and I were gonna be ok, etc. I have always thought about giving up on everything more times than I can count, but then I always think to myself, there is a reason I'm still alive and haven't given up yet. I have a whole life ahead of me that I can be using to make a difference in the world and help the people around me who are in the same/similar situation as me. This photo show that even though I have been through too many thing in my life, I have gotten stronger and I am still here to show this photo today. This is my resilience.

Trees are resilient because they don’t fall down when the wind hits them. They also show resilience by blooming every spring and not dying in the winter.
