The person in the photo is a close friend of mine, and he is holding a bass guitar. It took him a while to learn how to play. The photo shows resilience because the guy is tuning his guitar to make it sound perfect. Without a tuner it could be challenging to tune the instrument. It is also challenging to learn this instrument and it takes a while to master it. You don't become a musician overnight, it takes hard practice and dedication. You have to be resilient to keep playing. I used the rule of thirds to align the guitar and his head and the head of the guitar.

This photo is of a frustrated person's silhouette, and the shadow is their future self becoming resilient. I took three photos on two walls in my home.

This photo depicts both the frustration and motivated part of becoming resilient. It shows the part when you're at the point of giving up after something doesn't go as planned, the anger, sadness, feeling tired, exhaustion, constant disappointment, but you then change your mindset and get back up again. It is showing the feeling of your "turning point". It shows what you feel before changing your thoughts into positive ones. It shows your turning point because of the shadow representing your soon to be future self. This concept of resiliency is really connected to mental health so I wanted to implement the struggles with this photo and I did that by adding the frustration that comes first in being a resilient person.

I worked really hard to not only take the photo but to edit it too. There were times when I felt like giving up and got frustrated in the process of editing and taking the photo but I kept going and sometimes had to try again and do a couple more takes. I sometimes had to re-edit the photo because it wouldn't work out the first time, but I kept going despite the difficulties, and I think that is a good example of being resilient.

I was preparing to take the photo at this spot before sunset, but unfortunately due to the weekend, the road up the mountain was jammed with traffic. Observing through the window in the car, the light is getting weaker and weaker, I was so worried that I won't be able to take pictures of the sunset when I arrived. When we parked the car, it was only ten minutes before sunset. Carrying the equipment, I was running upon the trail illuminated by the orange sunlight. At this point, the shadow of the building complex downtown is being elongated little by little. By the time I got to this spot, the sun was mostly below the horizon. When I thought I didn't catch the sunset, it was getting darker and the temperature on the mountain was getting lower. When I almost decided to put away my tripod and head down the trail, the city lights came on. The warm-toned city lights are refreshing against the deep blue sky. So I put the camera back on the tripod and captured the perfect moment.

This crater has withstood the test of time. This inactive volcano is thousands of years old and has formed a crater. Life has even started to sprout in this barren crater.

I was at home, sitting at my desk, doing homework when I captured this photograph. I was looking around me and was reminded of things that got me through the pandemic. I really started thinking about my sister's cute little plant she has on our desk. There are many things going on at all times, many tough things, but plants continue to flourish. I think most of us can relate to this, especially in the last two years. Crazy things have happened, but we persevere and live life at its fullest. Things such as school supplies help us get through school everyday. Like plants and many other things, we are resilient and follow through everyday.

This is my grandpa working on his beloved 1953 Ford in his garage. He bought this car in 1974 and since then, it has gone through two color changes and been taken apart over and over again. Today, it sometimes doesn't start, but my grandpa continues to work on it until it does. Resilience means adapting to change and is the ability to keep going in the face of adversity. Both my grandpa and his car have gone through a lot, yet both are still here.

I took this photo while I was in inside the big gym at my basketball practice. I happened to be sitting down and looked to my right and saw the benches. This photo represents resilience because even how dirty and broken the benches are, it’s still stable and has been working for many years for kids and parents to watch games playing on the court. I’m not a photographer, but enjoy.

I've lived in the same rural neighborhood my whole life, and in the span of my lifetime there have been two huge wildfires there. My neighborhood doesn't have any fire hydrants and is surrounded by very flammable hills and brush, so the fires spread quickly. The most recent of these fires raged for a whole week, and the entire neighborhood had to evacuate. Unfortunately, several houses were burnt to the ground. But with everyone helping each other out, no one was killed or injured, not even pets.

After the disaster, we held a fundraiser to help the families that lost their homes in the disaster. Our neighborhood came together and supported each other at this difficult time, and our resilience is what enabled us to survive the fire. There are hundreds of trees that were burnt in the fire, like the one in the photo. Yet even the undergrowth was able to survive among the ashes.

This photo was taken around the perimeter of a high school. This photo depicts resilience because dandelions are considered weeds but there is so much beauty in them. They grow in unusual places but that is what makes dandelions so resilient.

This photograph embodies this year's theme, "Resilience" due to the nature by which it was taken, and what the photograph represents. This photo was taken at the Wildlife Refuge. The refuge has come a long way in its efforts of conserving the fowl, and this photograph is proof of that. A stork which has been flourishing in the refuge, stands in a pond.

The subject is a flower. I chose this because I find these very beautiful. Even though everything is kind of dead around it, it is still surviving. The best part of my work is being able to almost feel the texture of the image. I think this because it is so close to the camera.

The staircase in the image is free for anyone to climb up, however I rarely see anyone on it. My neighborhood displays a numerous amount of staircases, though I find that this one is my favorite because I always see lizards in the bushes or on the stairs itself.

The photograph I took correlates with the theme of resilience as it represents an uphill climb. Climbing a flight of stairs requires determination and in order to do so, you must have the will to challenge yourself. This applies to resilience as well because in order to gain a sense of resilience, you have to set new expectations for yourself instead of just staying in the same place.
