This year's theme of resilience is exemplified by my photograph because of the symbolism of the structure beside the crow. The building represents the creation of man that has taken over many of earth’s natural habitats. It is estimated that 14.6% of the world’s surface is covered by human development.* The crow is a very common sight to see in developed areas, however, because the species has adapted to human-developed environments. The ability to adapt is a show of resilience in that to adapt you must be able to withstand the change of your environment and then grow to overcome its new challenges and unfamiliarities.
