This photo relates to “Resilience” because people are small but tough and strong in the world. I think of it more as everything around us in our daily lives but we go on with our day, and we are fine at the end of the day because we are tough and strong. The trees are standing really tall. Going farther in you see everything, and some of it is ugly and some of it is beautiful. In life, there are different ugly and beautiful things we do in our daily lives.

I wanted to connect to this year's theme, "Resilience," by portraying what one would feel towards their ambitions—about how, regardless of the many obstables or difficulties, people stay strong to withstand it and endure whatever light or darkness faces them.

This photo was taken at my school's field where the portables are located at. This photo relates to this year's theme, "Resilience", because it symbolizes recovering from a dark place. The cracks on the concrete means past troubles and the plant symbolizes growth from those troubles. In addition the plant's crack symbolizes that it gave character, strength, and realization to grow out of that dark place. It will take time to get out of a dark place, but life will get better even if it doesn't seem like it will.

Overall, for the theme of resilience, I had wanted to give an idea of standing the test of time and persistence through a more ominous environment. So I had thought that the usage of nature or in this case a flower could greatly portray this ideal. To start with, I had mainly found this tree that had lost its leaves around my school and decided to use this to help portray my idea. The lack of its leaves and the vibrance of the blooming flowers that was left helped to show that sort of idea that it was still surviving and persisting through its elements. The change in colors was to help emphasize this by surrounding it in shadows or a more dead like background. Overall, to convey resilience, I had wanted to show this through a flower in a tree I found, surviving and persisting while all other elements of it were gone.

I have seen this tree for almost every day of my life, and it always had no leaves. It was poorly pruned and attacked by termites which caused it to lose its leaves and flowers. However, It has proven itself to want to hold on to life by growing some leaves back. It has proven itself to be resilient.

The tree's life made me think of resilience. Initially, the seed itself wasn't doing too well, then it became this beautiful tree after a couple years of recovery. After being in the fridge for 2 months and in a small pot for another 2 months, it managed to survive, to live on. Thus, it exemplifies resiliency to me.

The photo was taken at my house. It relates to resilience, as it represents coming out of darkness (darker background) and pushing through the difficulties in one's life.

The photo was taken to show resilience because it shows that the plant is resisting the force of the concrete. It cracked through and is showing through the cracks.

The photo was taken when I went to San Francisco with my family. The photograph shows resilience because even after all the years the bridge has been up, it still stands and doesn't give out.
I have been standing since 1933. Part of that was all of my friends helping me stay together and making sure my bolts don't get loose. I've witnessed some harsh things like car crashes and deaths; it kinda ruined my reputation a little. But I am still standing strong. - The Golden Gate

In 2022, humanity is struggling with a lot of problems. The younger generations are growing more and more anxious and stressed. With all the different problems in the world, this image shows the resilience of friendships. Friendship can flourish even in times of complete darkness and it can be a light of hope shining in tough times.
In this photo, I decided to keep the hands in the center of the photo to put an emphasis on the subject. The arms act as leading lines and they help balance the image. I decided to crop this horizontally to give room for the arms.

After a bad day, I was hanging out with my friends and we decided to take a walk along the way. I spotted a vibrant patch of flowers. This small sight made my day a little bit better and this shows resilience because anything can help you throughout the day and get you through a tough time. Even if my experience wasn’t as big, it still led me to have a better day and to not hold the bad feeling from before.
