This is a photo of my sister Kaylah. Kaylah is 2 years old. I'm thankful that I was old enough to watch my Mom go through her pregnancy and I was able to witness the phenomena of bringing a life into this world. This image is of her playing at church. She's a miracle.

Everyday I wake up early in the morning to go to school and on my way to school the sun shines brightly in the sky. I was on my way to school when I decided to take this picture from a puddle. When taking this picture I used a natural resource, a puddle, to give my picture a "life" which is how I see a "Phenomena"; natural.

I was hoping that we would see a typhoon
Anyway the picture shows some ducks and the sun
This trip was really fun
The theme phenomena was really tough
It was hard to find something to take a picture of
I guess you can say it was rough
Thank you for the opportunity to share my photo with y'all
I guess you will give me a call

For some people, phenomena are facts or events that can be observed through the senses, but it can also be things that are rare or impressive. But personally I find “Phenomena” in nature. Nature can be found everywhere, and I believe that nature is pretty rare but beautiful at the same time. Nature can make you feel inspired and I think that is phenomenal.

I see phenomena in this picture for a couple reasons. Being able to stop and appreciate the details of nature. There is beauty in so many things that we have in life. And it can be rare because not everyone can say that they stop and take time to enjoy and bask in the natural beauty.

The photo was taken in the school ground where there was a tree. I thought it went well with the theme since the photo was by chance since it was never usually windy at school.

This particular scene struck me because there is a designated EPA superfund site (a site that is extremely polluted and toxic) nearby, and the fact that nature was able to overcome and still survive in that kind of environment really reflected how powerful nature is to me. To me, this image was indicative of a larger theme of nature being able to overcome all sorts of obstacles such as oil spills or global warming despite the odds. Moreover, for these trees to be able to survive and grow over a long period of time where a human would get sick otherwise also reflects the fragility of humans.

The photo was taken in Yosemite National Park. It reminded me of Ansel Adam's work capturing the majesty of nature and how it works together. I feel it relates to the theme of phenomenon because nature and how it works together to stay in balance and to create new things is an amazing phenomenon. In this picture you can see how nature created its own path down from the top of the mountain and how it traverses along the bottom, making its own path when needed. Also, the mountain has a sharp cliff, but trees and life still continue to grow and even when faced with the force of the rushing river the plants in it persevere and live.

I took these photos for a project in photography class. I went to my friend's house and we had so much fun. The project was to take photos of different liquids and you can make them as weird as you want. To get those photos I used corn syrup, food coloring, and this perfume that had shimmer and glitter in it. I love the way these photos turned out and when our teacher told us about this contest, I got really excited. I never really entered my photos into anything so this was the first time. I am honestly just happy that I put my photo out in the world.

I was walking around a beach when I saw an old couple standing next to each other enjoying some wine. This is a phenomena because it shows true love.

I chose to submit this photo because it takes place in one of my favorite places to go to, a small swap meet. It’s a wonderful place of phenomena where you get to buy things that aren’t overpriced. I’ve recently discovered that I don’t have to buy expensive and overpriced clothes at the mall. Over the past four years, I’ve learned to appreciate swap meets, flea markets, and thrift stores. I am able to express myself through fashion because of these amazing and affordable places. It’s amazing to be able to save money and at the same time help low income store owners!

The photo was taken from my backyard, behind an old fence. A sunset is said to be the most common natural phenomenon, but that doesn't make them any less beautiful. At first glance it seems the sky is only orange, but the more you stare, other colors start to pop out. You see a mix of blue and even some purple among the gray clouds. The blending of these colors come together to form what everyone calls a "sunset", which is one of earth's most precious phenomena. It occurs everyday without fail, we just need to take the time to look at it.

I was with my family and we were all going to the eye doctor. It had been raining all day and the sun had come out. The lighting was absolutely beautiful, and it started to sprinkle and right before my eyes was a rainbow. Luckily I had my phone and was able to capture the natural phenomena.

A beautiful sight from just outside the Palos Verdes Peninsula. A view from just behind some flowers. It shows the beauties of California and how amazing it could be.

Peace. A concept only few have truly achieved. World peace? Is it possible? Internal peace? Can one really feel relieved from their worries and fears? I believe that temporary relief and tranquility is attainable. However, eternal peace is what I strive for, not only for myself but for the world I live in as well. The warmth of feeling calm, secure, and alive is inspiring and quite beautiful. I believe that I captured my peace and I encourage others to do the same.

My photo relates to phenomena as it observes naturally occurring events like weather and flocks of birds. We can predict weather with some accuracy in a shortened time frame, but if we wanted to predict the weather years from now we wouldn't know where to start. Why was the cloud grey that day instead of another? Why the birds are perched and why they're grouped in the first place is open to interpretation and there's no definitive answer as to why. Both aspects of my photo are not completely explained which make them phenomena.

Comfort Zone:
My knees tremble
And my throat turns dry
I mess up my words,
Forget what I want to say sometimes
But it feels a million times more right
If I just go and face the fight
No hiding behind masks,
Sitting in my comfort zone
No longer a shadow of my true self,
Putting my dreams back on the shelf
Reach for the sky and you shall see
What all the world has come to be

This photo was taken in the Kraft bouldering area of Red Rocks national park and preserve. Climbing rope free forty feet in the air takes a level of comfort and confidence in your own body that is phenomenal for any person to achieve. If that wasn’t enough, the climb down is a fight against your body’s natural instinct to fear heights. The phenomena of fear is a beautiful, yet grotesque situation. When humans are in fear, we are at our sharpest, making the decisions that will save our lives. But we are also the most selfish, making the decisions that may harm others.

Millions of years ago, the collision of tectonic plates started forming the vast expanse of the mountains known as the Sierra-Nevada’s. Each earthquake we have further develops the mountains. I am standing on an old volcano, taking this photo. A couple thousand years after, the expanding ice of moving glaciers carved out the lake basin that is over 1,800 feet deep.

Scientists and the news cover the global phenomena of climate change and yet people still deny the existence of such an occurrence. I shot this in the California Sierra mountains, where due to climate change, wildfires are an annual phenomenon to the point where locals will say there are only two seasons of the year now, winter is ski season and the summer fire season. This 2020 winter is the driest on record and the fire season is coming. I wanted to show how we are surrounded by global warming and yet people keep denying it is happening. The newspaper is catching on fire in my friend’s hands to show how we all need to wake up and become active so that we can change what is happening. This shot was taken in an area that recently burned.

The human spirit has amazing capacities. This is a little dancer in my dance class that I teach. She fits right in and all the other girls treat her as one of their own. Community and individual resilience are human phenomena.
