Honorable Mention
This photo connects to phenomena because the light distorts anything that is in water. In this photo, it is the leaves. This photo is very pleasing to the eye and creates something that many people do not pay attention to when it happens.
Honorable Mention
Water lilies are a phenomena to me because I had never seen them in person before I took the photo in a Zen garden a few towns over. In this photo the composition and the water itself are their own unique natural happening.
Honorable Mention
This photo was taken while on a trip to Santa Barbara California, I took the photo originally to have as a memory of the beach but later I realized that it was a pretty good and high quality photo. This photo shows the natural phenomena of the waves hitting the beach and in the photo you can see all the minor details of the ripplles in the waves and the wave as a whole. These waves are one of the most amazing phenomena that the world gets to see everyday and we should never take for granted about how truly unique it Is to be able to experience the waves hitting the beach everyday.
Honorable Mention
50 Shades of Figuring Out Who You Are. Trying to figure out who you are isn't an easy thing. The barbed wire and thorns in the background represent the difficult journey to figure out who we are. Many LGBTQ kids go through a lot to find who they are, and showing it isn't the easiest. Many feel like they are being suppressed and not able to really show who they are. The beautiful flowers symbolize each of our potential to bloom and become what we are meant to be. I believe we are all destined to be and contribute different things to the world. We are all phenomenas. This is a photograph of my friend in a conceptual setting created to show both the difficulty of becoming individuals and the potential.
Honorable Mention
While exploring and enjoying nature's wonder, I came face-to-face with a new friend. He landed in front of me and seemed to demand my attention. It is amazing to me how fearless the bird was. It also made me contemplate the phenomena of flight.
Honorable Mention
This photo was taken in Wrightwood when I went on a trip with my family to go see the snow for the first time. It was a wonderful experience! I took this photo because it was a beautiful sight. This photo relates to this year's contrast theme "Phenomena" because it really catches your eye to admire the photo.
Honorable Mention
I thought this photo demonstrates "Phenomena" because all of the colors and the blurred bee flying away gives it movement of it traveling to whereever it wants to go next.
Honorable Mention
My photograph relates to "Phenomena" because it shows a deep perspective of a mystery. Yūgen is an important concept in traditional Japanese aesthetics. Yūgen means "dim", "deep" or "mysterious".
