Description:
The photo of the track spike shoe called the Dragonfly, was taken on my schools track on the straight away. Luckily, the rain from the night before had made puddles in the middle of the track and happened to be in the most perfect spot. I used the puddles to create a reflection of the shoe.

This photograph relates to the theme, "Innovation" because track spikes have evolved over time since the year 1924. Before modern day track spikes, spikes back then were made out of heavy leather and rubber with no cushioning, and long, hard nails bolted into the midsole of the shoe. This type of shoe was made for all types of events in the sport of Track and Field and Cross Country running. Track spikes back then weighed up to 6.3 ounces which is very heavy for a track spike in the modern world.

As Track Spikes have evolved over the years, so have athletes. With better grip, more control, powerful push offs, and responsiveness, athletes can compete more comfortably and feel good when they race. Modern day Track Spikes now come in all shapes and sizes for particular events like sprinting, jumping, throwing, and running longer distances. Dragonfly Spikes are meant for middle and long distances, and for me, these spikes have made it really easy for me to run fast and feel good. This is how Track Spikes have evolved.
