This photo was taken on my mom's 46th birthday after going on a walk and talking about the crazy life we've had. The moon seen in the left corner of the picture is known to be one of nature's natural phenomenas. It is also one of the most underrated phenomenas that exist. A phenomena can also be defined as something unique. A sunset is said to be different every afternoon, never the same shades of orange, yellow, pink, red etc. Just like a snow flake, each sunset is different from one another, making each one unique. Another unique/rare thing that happened that day was the fact that my mother and I were able to have a good and long conversation, which I found weird since we don't get along for a few personal reasons. That day was overall a phenomena which I will keep as a memory through that image. Behind every sunset there's a story.

Phenomena can be observed all around you, and the fidget spinner exemplifies the phenomena of multiple physics principles. The photo was taken when I was messing around with an old fidget spinner from years ago. Only then did I realize how fascinating its phenomena are. With a flick of the finger, energy is transferred to the outer bearing race of the fidget spinner and it is able to maintain relatively high rotational force thanks to the low friction of the ball bearing. The conservation of angular momentum then keeps its rotational velocity constant so the fidget spinner doesn't tilt. It's by constantly questioning of phenomena around do we acquire knowledge and advance as a society.

I took this photo at Yosemite National Park.I feel this picture is phenomenal because when you look at it, it amazes you because of the view. It is beautiful and amazing to look at. You feel like a different type of feeling, like you're at the top of the world or like you did it. Yosemite National Park is famed for its giant, ancient sequoia trees, and for Tunnel View, the iconic vista of towering Bridalveil Fall and the granite cliffs of El Capitan and Half Dome.

This shows 30 seconds in one image, which is a phenomena. Long exposure allows me to show motion and capture a series of events in a single image. Steel wool, a battery, a friend and 30 seconds of sparks makes for a magical image. Everyone who sees it goes "WOW!" and looks really happy. To me that is a phenomena.

The photo was taken in Tokyo, Japan. This photography relates to this year's contest theme phenomena by how the tower brings peace and absolute truth to the whole city. This tower was built in a temple.

This picture was taken at the site of a fire about 2-3 months after the fire. The scene was interesting to me because the regrowth had happened very quickly and the new life brought by the fire was already overtaking the death. This tree stood out as a phenomenon to me because despite having been completely burned, it still stood strong and had a very distinct angry "face." To me, it represented the tenacity and resilience of nature in the face of death and spoke to the concept of nature spirits being unhappy with the current state of the world.

Taken at school in the plants by the classroom.

My photo relates the the theme because I was unaware of what it was when I took the picture. I saw how at first only a small portion of the sky was covered and after my first class nearly the whole sky was covered in this thick smoke. It was remarkable that such a devastating event could be so beautiful in hind sight. I was not sure what had happened until later that morning when I found out that it was the Camp Fire in Paradise.
----------
It was such a beautiful sky
Yet no one knew quite the reason why
The smoke was rising higher and higher
Then we knew that it was the fire
The victims had to stay strong
Even when it felt so wrong
This was the fire that struck Paradise
No one truly knows its price

The turning of the weather from summer to fall is a gradual process. This photos, captures the phenomena of a leaf changing but curling. It was originally yellow before the sepia effect. The sepia effect enhances a bigger phenomena, the biological structure of the leaf and the many different shades and shapes it can take.

When creating this photo I wanted to have a unique photo that pushes the message that animals are different, exotic, and precious. The animal is my own, and I placed it on a black background to bring the viewer's attention only to the animal. This photo relates to the contest's theme because mother earth has created these unique animals, and placed them in our reach. Each animal she creates is more unique, making it a phenomena.

It's phenomenal how wildlife can live in a manmade habitat that someone built. The fact that this person made the manmade lagoon to try and restore the water quality and habitat to how it used to look like, allowing wildlife to have a habitat to live, breathe, and survive within a urban city is absolutely phenomenal.

I took this photo when the sun was setting and had my brother dress in all white to help accompany the warmth of the golden hour light. This photo is dominated by phenomena since it appeals to the senses through the feeling of warmth and tranquility. The clock in the background of the photo displays the feeling of time being stopped.
Honorable Mention
Phenomena directly translates to an observable fact or a remarkable person, thing, or event. In this case, the photo of the watch is a remarkable object. There is nothing else to be said, the picture does the talking.
Honorable Mention
This photo connects to phenomena because the light distorts anything that is in water. In this photo, it is the leaves. This photo is very pleasing to the eye and creates something that many people do not pay attention to when it happens.
Honorable Mention
Water lilies are a phenomena to me because I had never seen them in person before I took the photo in a Zen garden a few towns over. In this photo the composition and the water itself are their own unique natural happening.

This photo was taken while on a trip to Santa Barbara California, I took the photo originally to have as a memory of the beach but later I realized that it was a pretty good and high quality photo. This photo shows the natural phenomena of the waves hitting the beach and in the photo you can see all the minor details of the ripplles in the waves and the wave as a whole. These waves are one of the most amazing phenomena that the world gets to see everyday and we should never take for granted about how truly unique it Is to be able to experience the waves hitting the beach everyday.

50 Shades of Figuring Out Who You Are. Trying to figure out who you are isn't an easy thing. The barbed wire and thorns in the background represent the difficult journey to figure out who we are. Many LGBTQ kids go through a lot to find who they are, and showing it isn't the easiest. Many feel like they are being suppressed and not able to really show who they are. The beautiful flowers symbolize each of our potential to bloom and become what we are meant to be. I believe we are all destined to be and contribute different things to the world. We are all phenomenas. This is a photograph of my friend in a conceptual setting created to show both the difficulty of becoming individuals and the potential.

While exploring and enjoying nature's wonder, I came face-to-face with a new friend. He landed in front of me and seemed to demand my attention. It is amazing to me how fearless the bird was. It also made me contemplate the phenomena of flight.
Honorable Mention
This photo was taken in Wrightwood when I went on a trip with my family to go see the snow for the first time. It was a wonderful experience! I took this photo because it was a beautiful sight. This photo relates to this year's contrast theme "Phenomena" because it really catches your eye to admire the photo.
Honorable Mention
I thought this photo demonstrates "Phenomena" because all of the colors and the blurred bee flying away gives it movement of it traveling to whereever it wants to go next.
